About
I work in both traditional and digital mediums and specialise in hand-cut collage and illustration.
In the pre-digital days working in advertising, I used a scalpel, ruler, wax, a Rotring pen and photo mechanical transfer to build designs. Using these skills I developed my creative practice including collage and graffiti stencils. I enjoy the challenge posed by collage: making images from disparate materials. I use vintage photos, postcards and printed matter, then remix/sample them to create something unique and new.
Through illustration I explore my love of public transport, myth, music, geometry and sport.
The Japanese influence in my work comes from my family: my partner has dual Japanese & English heritage and we’ve visited many times soaking up the architecture, graphic design and typography.
I play badminton, bowls, basketball, backgammon, table tennis and pool.
